This page is a new one and we are just starting to work on it. When complete, we will have a profile and photo of each boarder. We have a LOT of horses to profile, so this may take some time. Keep checking back!!
“There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.” – Sir Winston Churchill.
ABERDOR - 17.3 h 2004 Hanoverian/TB gelding
Aberdor joined in a partnership with Denise Kinney in July 2017 and the two enjoyed countless fabulous hacks at home and Fair Hill. This gentle giant would become quite excited when he saw the trailer coming out - practically self loading himself to be sure he got to go along! "Aberdorable" is now in semi-retirement, but still loving life, grooming sessions, and an excess of treats from Denise.
FEATHER - 16 h 2002 Anglo-Andalusian mare
Eva Ciuffetelli, a three-time veteran of the Colonial Classic, graduated through three different ponies here at SFC before moving up to Feather. The two have forged an amazing bond! Eva has schooled up to 4'3 and is showjumping Feather at 3'3. They are winning at Novice level eventing, and easily school training and preliminary size cross country obstacles. These two are reaching for the stars, and we fully expect them to get there!
GREAT GATSBY - 13 h 2009 Chincoteague Pony gelding
Gatsby was born on Assateague Island and made the swim to the annual Chincoteague pony auction. He moved to Fox Crossing as a young foal and this gentle, super-talented pony has lived here and been instrumental in training countless young riders for many years.
JAMESON - 17.2 h 2011 Canadian Warmblood gelding
Robert (Bob) Francois came to the equestrian sport world late in life, but is making huge strides and is already planning his first horse trial for 2020. After taking lessons until entering semi-retirement, Bob (6'5) acquired the suitably sized Jameson in early July of 2019. (Bob makes Jameson look like a normal-sized horse!) This pair is already off and running, enjoying gallops at Fair Hill and honing their jumping skills. So much fun ahead!
MINNIE - 13.2 h 2007 Connemara cross mare
Sarah Solloway and Minnie became partners in 2017 and landed at SFC in January of 2019. Sarah fits riding in around her busy 6th grade school schedule and is a member of Fox & Hounds Pony Club. When Sarah and Minnie first arrived, they were jumping cross rails, and not even a year later are schooling 3'3 and competing in 2'6 jumpers. Derby cross is a favorite class for this pair, and 2020 will see them joining the event horse ranks!
RECO (Recovering) - 15.3 h 2005 TB gelding
Whitney Frame has deep roots at Fox Crossing, having ridden and worked here as a teenager starting back in 2001 (!). Now a professional working in Wilmington, she finds time whenever possible to ride her lovely Reco, an OTTB she got from local trainer Jonathan Shepherd. Reco has made the transition from racing to being the zen in Whitney's hectic life - what a versatile fellow!
ROYAL - 16.2 h 2004 Percheron/QH gelding
Ann Masciantonio, a busy professional with a family to care for, made the decision to get a horse and learn to ride it -- having never even sat upon one in her life. Ann purchased Royal in August of 2019. After a mere 10 sessions, she grooms and tacks up independently and is already able to walk, trot, leg yield, and navigate cavaletti. Ann is enjoying every moment of learning this sport and looking forward to hacking out with the group. We can't wait to see what Spring 2020 will bring!
SKY - 15.3 2006 Hanoverian/TB gelding
This very lovely horse is lucky to have Nicole Donofrio as his special person. Nicole fits riding in around her hectic schedule running her own university lab and managing her family. In years past, Nicole rode on the A hunter circuit with all that that entails, but now focuses on the blissful activities of refining her dressage, hacking, and riding the occasional jumper course. Nicole has boarded at SFC since 2006 (!), and also keeps her retired horse here. (Read more about Nick in his bio.)
TEDDY - 2008 17 h ISH gelding
Teddy -- truly a giant love bug -- was imported by Denise Kinney directly from Ireland as a 3 year old. He was evented by Denise' daughter Rachel for many years before being passed directly to Denise, who now enjoys this beautifully trained gentle giant. Anticipating many happy trails in 2020!
